The Republic of the Fiji Islands or Matanitu ko Viti is the local name of the country of Fiji. Its capital city is Suva and Suva is the largest city of Fiji which is located in the midway between south and east coast of the island of Viti Levu. Viti Levu is the largest island among the other islands that comprises the country. Viti Levu is about the size of one island of Hawaii named “The Big Island of Hawaii”.
Viti Levu covers about 57% of the land of the nation. The country has a total population of 944, 720 (2009). It is also known as “The Crossroads of the Pacific”. The extreme points of this country in the north, you can find Uae Island and Rotuma. In the east, you can find the Vatoa Island. In the west point, you can find Viwa Island in the western division. The lowlands of the main islands on the western side of the country are sheltered by the mountains. They are good for the growth of the crops, including sugarcanes. Other natural resources of the country are gold and copper, fish and timber. The country is also good of its hydropower.
